Perishment future
To start off, a big thank you to everyone with the kind words and interest towards Perishment. I wasn't expecting the game to gain this much attention, and to be honest, the game had been on a hiatus for couple of months when I decided to put it up on itch.io. So: thank you!
As for the future of Perishment, I have some minor/major news, depending on a reader I suppose. When I first started developing Perishment, I had fairly little experience on actually creating a game (aside from few personal little dabbles and playing around in different engines), but what I had was an interesting idea of a horror game in mind; story, scenes and the setting. The problem is, that I'm more of a game designer, pixel artist, animator and pretty much everything else than a programmer, so I decided to go the "easy" route and start creating the game in 2D with low resolution retro-like pixel art. I personally love pixel art and the feel it gives off to games, but here's the thing: however much I tried, I could only get so close to my original vision of the horror I wanted to create. The sounds, ambience, story elements and exploring the environment was there, but I wanted to immerse and scare the player even more. These thoughts were constantly in the back of my head, and severely affecting the motivation at times. So here we are:
I've started recreating what I currently had, but this time in 3D from the first person perspective.
I want to preserve as much of the visual feel and ambience I managed to create in this 2D demo I created, so I will be aiming for the retro-ish 3D pixel art/low resolution look, sort of similar to older PS1 games. I will be reusing lot of the textures I already created for the 2D version, along with the sounds and music and the overall progression, and it's already taking shape.
I can understand that some people might have liked 2D version of Perishment solely for the aesthetics, and that some people might be disappointed for the decision, but I sincerely believe that you will like how the recreation will turn out, and how much more creepy spine-tingling horror I can convey through the new dimension added (plus it gives me a way to implement many scenes I originally was going to scrap only because of the 2D restrictions).
Anyway, thanks for anyone reading this, and I hope you are as excited as I am that I can make Perishment what it truly was intended to be!

Salve, quando sarà prevista la data di uscita?? vorrei acquistare il gioco completo. Grazie
This demo creeps me out.
IMO you don't need 3D nor first person perspective to do a good horror game. Personnaly i find your demo already scary. The work you have done with sounds and musics is fantastic, the ambiance is really disturbing and creepy.
Dude, this game will be a MASSIVE success if done on 2D. Your talent for this is incredible. For 3D you will have a much tougher time finding massive success with this game.
The reason I say this is the completion is much steeper in 3D as opposed to 2D. Yes, 3D does have higher potential than 2D, but 2D for what you have made so far is the best option.
Just look at the game titled "house" which is receiving a lot of acclaim and attention. I will support you wherever you go, but 2D just seems so good!
You created a great 2D game, you just had to continue(((
Oh no, no 3d ((((
Best regards with the development of perishment! Knowing that this game will be in 3D in the future, it has more potential of attracting more player base in horror genre IMO. You are right about some of the limitations of 2D vs 3D in terms of portraying horror as a game mechanic. There are just things that 2D can't convene the way 3D does. Good luck!
